I’ve been frustrated lately with my inability to keep focus on any sort of project. I’ve got some self-diagnosis going on, but I am NOT a trained professional so those will stay firmly in my own head.

However, I know my “writing days” are Tuesdays and Fridays, I’ve always tried to keep that schedule. Tuesday’s writing is for other educators. I love seeing what slices of their lives they share, and I appreciate the fact people read and comment on mine. There’s a different level with that writing group because many are teachers of writing. The poetry, the imagery, just they way they tell a story always leaves me with varied emotions. It’s an amazing group and I am humbled to be a small part of it.

Fridays are more for me. Honestly, both days are for me, and the freedom the blog gives me is something I constantly take for granted. Just being able to process through emotions, events, places in time, it’s all part of the writing process. Fridays are a little more casual in what I put into my blog. It’s like a “jean day” in the classroom, but without the list of stipulations associated with jean day. I used to really love jean day because we could really dress down. I’d wear the Minecraft t-shirt, the Batman t-shirt, or just something silly and love it. The rules were changed and we can still wear t-shirts, but only “spirit” ones.

I’ve always enjoyed writing on Sunday because it’s just a slow day. Coffee, a little breakfast, then CBS Sunday Morning makes life feel just right, and it’s nice to put those feelings into words.

Lately, it’s been a chore getting to the blog site to say nothing of actually writing. And it’s not as if I’m really busy right now. No, school has started, so I’m tired, but it’s been a week and a half since I put fingers to keyboard to get some thoughts down.

Now, that’s not to say I’ve not written things down. I’ve started back into my “Noticing Notebook” and keeping sticky notes close when I’m listening to podcasts (much to my wife’s chagrin). So I’ve got content. So. Much Content.

So, what am I going to do about this? Create a place to write. Both daughters have moved out and have no plans on moving back, so we have two bed rooms to use. One of them has a queen sized bed and my wife’s sewing stuff (she’s a mask making genius!), so the other will be used. I’ve got a big old monitor and a Raspberry Pi that I’m going to use both for this and for some computer science practice. My students rolled their eyes when I told them they were going to have to learn somethings on their own, which made me nervous, so that can be a practice spot too.

The plan is there, it’s just making the plan come into fruition with school, mowing the lawn, cleaning, doing laundry, and the 42 other things that need to be done.

It can be done, but it takes time.

In the mean time, sporadic writing will continue to come because my focus is just not there.

Isn’t that just ducky?? 🙂
