Last Friday, I had surgery to repair an umbilical hernia.
#ouch
Yes, it was painful and not really fun. It was hard to take a deep breath for a couple of days and to cough, ouch!! However, today, things feel good, and for that, I am thankful.
I’ve taken today through Friday off to heal and recover, and had the blessing of my principal, which is lovely all by itself! Having that principal in your corner helps with so many things. Ours has done a bang up jub of being exactly what we need!
However, that means I’m staying home alone.

Today, I got to watch a series I’ve been wanting to watch for ages, but when I turn it on, my wife rolls her eyes. Tomorrow, I may watch more of it. I’ve been able to read, run some very small errands, and, when I overdid it, sit and ice my incision! 🙂
I’ve never minded being alone. I think it’s part of the ADHD (undiagnosed) that I have, along with some major trust issues that go way back to high school. I won’t go into details because I’m training my mind to look forward, but needless to say, I feel some of those “I’m ok to be here with just me” come from those formative years.
Sixth grade and I haven’t had much chance to bond, and this is just making it that much harder. We have three sections and another new teacher. Four years into my job in this school, I’m the ranking member of our 5th/6th grade pod. That’s NOT what I was looking for as I changed jobs, but here we are.

However, I’m looking forward to getting back and trying to get those relationships built.
Hey, two blogs in two days. Not bad for someone with whom the words have left! 😉
