We went to the Brown Swiss Banquet, one more time. We have no animals and our daughters have aged out the whole showing thing. So we went tonight, thus my really late post.
After the banquet, we went over to say good bye to one of our heifers, Della, who will be sold tomorrow
.
She’s a beautiful heifer and will be missed by us. We’d buy her as she’s going to calf in June, but we don’t have the milking facilities and once you own them, they own you! 🙂
It was a bittersweet night.

What a great photo! I can only imagine how hard it would be to say goodbye, but it’s never good when an animal owns YOU! I completely understand the decision. –but still, it’s really sad…

I’m sad you had to say goodbye to Della. She is beautiful, and I find myself wanting to rub her ears!

Definitely bittersweet but how wonderful that you all went together for this final farewell. Brown Swiss have been a family adventure, of which will now be a Swiss Miss for all of you. 🙂

What a beauty. So hard to close chapters and move on.

Yes, a bittersweet moment for sure, but everyone is better for having had the experiences. How true that the animal actually owns you.

Aww she’s a beauty. Closing a chapter is never easy and I know you’ll miss it. I remember you Slicing about this event the past two years. I’ll miss reading about them. But you’re right once you own them, they own you.

>But you’re right once you own them, they own you.<
People don't understand, not at all. Those big brown eyes and that attitude of a big puppy, man it's hard not to just buy them all! 🙂

Your pictures held so much love and reflected personalities! Change can be challenging but necessary. Glad you went and enjoyed the evening!

It was a great evening of laughter and friendship. Then, to see Della was the cherry on top! 🙂 I’m not a big fan of change, but it happens. We roll with it and make it work.
