Yup, my birthday lands on Slice of Life Day, so I have to write.
#whateverdude
This will be a short one because as I started writing it, it quickly became a huge vent on why my attitude has been in the toilet lately. I don’t want to do that on my birthday, do I?

So, I’m a 15 year old trapped in the body of a 48 year old. My mind says one thing, my body quickly tells my mind, rather rudely I might add, there’s no way that’s going to happen.
Sunday, my wife and I went and saw Avengers: Endgame (yes, if you are an Avengers’ fan, it’s a must see, period). As I looked around the movie theater, so many young people there, but yet, there I was, a Captain American shirt wearing middle aged geek! 🙂 I looked through the hashtag #thankyouAvengers and so many of tweets were “oh a part of my childhood is over”. Seriously? Proms, new drivers, accidents with new drivers, graduations, that’s my Avenger story!

No, not a big fan of getting older, but it is what it is. It’s definitely a melancholy time, this is for sure.
And as for my birthday, we’ll celebrate a little bit.

In one way birthdays mean we are growing older but more important it means that we are together. Wish you a happy Birthday 🙂

>but more important it means that we are together.<
What a great thought! Thank you for your perspective! I do appreciate it! 🙂

Happy birthday. With each year that passes we gain wisdom (hopefully). Old memories are replaced with new ones. Our world continues to grow. Enjoy your special day.

Thank you! I like that: Our world continues to grow. That’s a great takeaway from today! 🙂

Happy birthday! Glad to see you turned it into a reason to celebrate.

Thank you! We’ll be pretty low key, but that’s not a bad thing either! 🙂

Happiest Birthday! I too have a birthday this week on Friday. I would call mine a milestone. Freaking out quite a bit about it. Hope you are not because 48 is young. Enjoy all you’ve accomplished and count your blessings, of which there are many

Thank you! 🙂 My students made my day. They were SO excited, plus, two of them brought me bags of jelly beans. I mean, seriously, if that doesn’t make your day, what does?? 🙂

Happy birthday! 🎈 I’m glad you took some time to celebrate and refrained from venting- although it’s your birthday!

As someone in her 40s, I could definitely relate with the ambivalence that comes with marking another year past. I love how you communicated that but also infused your post with humor. Hope that today (and other days) you have lots of reminders of the great parts of your life.

Happy Birthday! I love birthday celebrations because they celebrate life! Continue to maintain that young at heart attitude no matter what the ole noggin’ and body say and you’ll feel young for a very long time! (This past week I’ve been hiking at Grand Canyon after just turning 61! I didn’t get as far down as I wanted (to the river) or hike up as fast but hey, I hiked!) Hope you had a nice celebration! 🙂
