I’m not even sure exactly how to write this as I’ve tried a couple of times with miserable results. A couple of weeks ago, I wrote about our long time music teacher, Janet, and her nearing the end in her four year battle with cancer. I’d love to say she made a turn for the better, but last Friday, she lost her battle and passed away, surrounded by family.
I’d love to write an eloquent piece, but I’m not the writer for that. I’d love to say “there’s a grand plan for Janet”, but I can’t do that either.
Each time I try to write something beyond here, I get really negative really fast, and knowing some of my readers, they will take offense to what I think about those “grand plan” people.
So, I’ll leave with cancer sucks. It’s the best I can do right now.

Darin, you might want to read “Cancer Hates Kisses” by Jessica Reid Sliwerski. She is meeting up with me at NCTE17 so can can have a F2F and a hearty talk.

It does. Sometimes it’s all we can say and write and feel.

As long as there is singing at this school, her spirit will be her with us.

Thank you! 😦 A Facebook page was started, and there were dozens and dozens of posts from simply thank yous to stories of things that happened in her class that made you laugh out loud while you were crying. Its been a trying first quarter, that is for sure, but all we can do it look up, listen to the music of life, and hope for better things! 🙂
