Ooof.

That’s a prompt!

What could you try for the first time?

#youhavethings

Oh I know, and looking through the replies, there were many!

“Not being so judgmental” “Learning something new” “A new food”

The basics that you’d expect.

I’ve got three things that come to mind in terms of what would I like to try:

  • #1 – Making Money Online: Didn’t think I start here, did you? πŸ™‚ I’m not going to lie, this year has been a tough one. I have a new grade partner (good thing), a new reading curriculum (ugh), a new principal (jury is still out), and new windows in our house (booooring). This has led, fairly quickly, to me being April/May tired in September/October. Frankly, I could curl up right now and take a nap if I could, but no, I’m going to be a good guy, staying to watch jr. high football. What I’d love to do is try an online business of some sort. I HATE spending money frivolously. Despise it. And that’s what most creators want, to “buy their program”. So right now, I’m looking at things, but with an eye, not for a program, but for something that will offer support forever. Not someone who touts big money, but consistency. If I can find that, I think I’d sink some cash there because I’m tired. I can officially retire at the end of this year, but with full benefits in four years. I love my job, cannot imagine being anywhere else, yet, I feel like this job is wearing my health down. I want to have fun times while I still can. If I could make a little money online, who knows where things could go.

      • #2 – Leaving Social Media: Damn, another one out of left field. I’m not sure if blogging is considered social media, because it would be hard to give this up, but more and more, social media is a cluster. Twitter is nothing but people yelling at each other. Instagram isn’t as bad, but most of the content I consume is political. And TikTok, ugh. It’s becoming glaringly obvious that most of social media will be used to monitor our speech (like with a certain podcaster). It would be hard to give it up for sure. I found hundreds of kindred spirits in Twitter’s prime with the teacher chats. Facebook was always a go-to to check up with family. Even TikTok was a joy at one point. However, now, they are not. I know I said I’d love to make money online, and to do that, you need an online presence. I think that my social media would simply be wherever product/service/thing that was being sold, nothing more

      Why thank you! πŸ™‚

      • #3 – Living in our Camper More – Again, this one may seem antithical to someone who wants to leave social media. Being present is something that I struggle with using social media. This past summer, camping helped. Sure I took picutres and posted them to those sites, but it wasn’t something I did much, there was too much to look at! If it wasn’t the massive amount of cheese at the Cheese Curd Festival, it was the amazing views of the Rocky Mountains, or just being on a bike and enjoying the breeze in my face. We didn’t get the camper out as much as we’d hoped this summer, and this upcoming year will be a crossroads for us. Will we use it more to do we sell it and see about something else? My wife wants a camper van, and while I see the appeal of that, the limited size and space worries me. Really want to get out and see if we can manage ourselves for a month while driving around the Upper Mid-West. We missed going to Minnesota, so I’d love to get there, and maybe see about North Dakota, swing down over to see Devil’s Tower in Wyoming, down to Hot Springs in South Dakota, and who knows from there. It’s doable, you just have to try. And damnit, I’m ready. If we can manage that kind of a trip, who knows what we can do! πŸ™‚

So, what things are you wanting to try? I’d love to hear your thoughts! And if you made this far, thank you! I do always appreciate the readers who trust that I won’t go too far sideways! πŸ™‚
