24 years ago:
- Church of England ordains 1st 33 women priests
- Ace of Base’s “The Sign” was the #1 song on the Billboard Top 40
My wife and I were married on this day, 24 years ago. I’ve felt old for a number of reasons, but as I look at Melissa, I do young for so many reasons.
Somethings about us:
- We’ve traveled all over the United States together, teaching in Alaska, Missouri, and Iowa.
- We’ve had three houses which we called home, one in Missouri and two here in Iowa.
- Our two daughters are almost out of the house in our current home, a little acreage that’s home to two dogs, an assortment of white and tiger striped barn cats, two Brown Swiss heifers, and a few chickens.
- We never meant to make this place home, and if the current political situation doesn’t change drastically, we are ready to take our show on the road again. We both have a little wanderlust in us, so that’s not all together a bad thing.
So, 24 years of up and down, some bumps and some smooth sailing, and we’ll “celebrate” with a bus ride coming up here soon. Oh the joys of marriage.
Yet, I couldn’t think of a more beautiful, intelligent, quick witted, strong woman who’d want to make this journey with me.
Happy anniversary, my love! π

Hey, thank you! π

Happy Anniversary!
Now the next question-where are you looking to go next if the political climate doesn’t change?
March 12, 2018 at 9:17 pm
That’s a good question! We’ll have kids in college, so it will be a few years, but neither of us mind the cold, so Minnesota would be a spot. We loved Missouri while we lived there, so that could be an option. Probably not going to to Alaska unless it’s on a cruise of some sort! π

Happy Anniversary! What a wonderful way to honor the past 24 years!

Well, as we sit next to each other, working on our computers, trying to get ready, it seemed a good way to do it! π

Happy Anniversary to you both! π What part of Missouri??? I was in southeast near the Cape Girardeau-Poplar Bluff area. Sounds like you’ve had an exciting life together and a whole new ’empty nest’ phase is beginning. It’s like dating all over again. π

We were just to the west of Columbia! π My question, did you know Vikki Brent? She was my principal at the school I taught at in Missouri, and was from down that way! Small world! I had a teacher who said, “We were happy when the girls were gone, not because we didn’t want them around, but because it meant we’d done our job well!” Of course, one of them has moved back and lived with her (while teaching at our school) for the last two years, but we won’t talk about that! π

Yes, it is a small world. In fact, the first two people I’ve had a conversation with down here in Texas have both been from Missouri-one from St. Louis and one from a small town west of Columbia (Huntsdale). Crazy! ~~I did not know Vikki Brent nor recognize the name. That would have been something if I did, though. ~~ I always felt if we could get our boys through high school drug free and raise them to be independent young men, we did our job. π Check! Double Check!~~ At least coming back to Texas, the state we both retired from, we have voting power again regarding our teacher pensions/medical. ~~Hope y’all enjoyed your anniversary!
