Ugh. Again, no clear writing time = missed days. Annoying as heck!

My full-time job is being a teacher, a husband, a dad, a brother, and a son.

There is no order there because sometimes, each is the most important thing at the time. (Don’t come at me with “your job shouldn’t be on that list” because being a teacher is like having a new family every year!).

I also have a part-time job: MAGA Annoyer

Oh come on, you’ve always wanted to do it, don’t tell me you haven’t. You see some crazy white supremacist post and you want to respond back with some snarky, catty, petty reply.

More often than not, I do it.

I try not to heckle former teachers, parents of classmates, or the classmates themselves, but many times, it’s too easy. Much more often than not, my focus is Twitter Trolls, the low-life, sludge sucker, bottom-feeding people who spend their time LOOKING for things to yell at. They are the people in line at the store or in a restaurant, asking to talk with the manager, and are slack-jawed when that doesn’t work out.

I have no tolerance for them because they are the reason we are in this mess right now!

Anyway, I’ve been on the library posts and the Iowa legislature wants to control what books we are reading a public library. They really, REALLY want to take away an exception that libraries get for having racy materials in the public library (racy meaning “pornographic”). When I say “trust librarians, they are professionals” I get “groomer” or “pedophile” or any other insult you might get and it just makes my day.

I comment about how Iowans are being fleeced by vouchers and I get called an “indoctinator” and how “we need people like you out of the classroom”. Those comments used to make me angry, but now, they are like gold. Getting under the skin of those red hat wearing people gives me a silly amount of joy.

My thing, groomer and pedphile, those are laughable at best. They are terms that most people use against the dredges of the human race. I know that they are only trying to get under OUR skin. But “indocrinator” ticks me off. Someone who is indocrinating people look to change someone in a way that isn’t always good. White nationalist, radical religious people, all of them try to turn people.

For me, if I’m indocrinating kids, I’m not telling them what do think, oh heck no. If I’m indocrinating kids, I’m indocrinating them with empathy, I’m indocrinating them with the idea of bringing all their materials to class, I’m indocrinating kids to click the dang turn in button on Google Classroom.

Indocrinating kids? Please, there’s so much to do in class that I cannot imagine doing it. I’m sure that there are places in our country where we do have teachers pulling that crap, and I’m not a fan. But, all in all, I see teachers doing their damnedest to get things done with a smile, creating relationships, grading papers, and doing things the right now.

By all means, call us names, just know, we are school teachers. We are the “I am rubber and you are glue” people. We are the “sticks and stones”.

We know how to let that crap roll off our back like a duck.
