This is post number 1,000 post on The Life of Conflicted Teacher!!

It is fitting that this milestone happens on another milestone, our 30th wedding anniversary.

#damnthatisalongtime

It’s been quite a ride. We started dating on my birthday in 1991, engaged in 1993, wedding in 1994 and, there it goes! We were in Minnesota, Alaska, Missouri, and Iowa. I’ve been in 5 different school districts. My wife has been in four districts, stayed home with our daughters for five years, and worked her way up in Headstart, starting as a co-teacher and ending as an educational specialist there.

My blog started in August 2011 at the suggestion of our then superintendent. She was big into pushing technology into our classrooms and I was an early adaptor of it. I loved the Twitters, the blogs, and checking out all the stuff that goes with the tech. I was a “technology coordinator” for about 2 minutes, but was/am the guy that people go to for tech help. I feel like things have passed me by, which is not a bad thing. I’ve had my time in the sun and it’s time to allow others to do their thing too.

My wife tolerates my adult ADHD, and my obsessions with the Cubs, the Cowboys, and the Hawkeyes. She’s less tolerant of my ability to forget why she sent me into the basement (🤣). She’s given me a love of good food, good wine, and good tea.

The blog has given me the ability to create a space, a voice, just for myself. I had a teacher tell me she loved reading my blog because of the distinct voice that was carried throughout. I’ve written about a plethora of topics ranging from educational to totally nonsensical. And for the most part, I’ve loved it.

My wife is an amazing woman and my love for her has only grown as we’ve grown older together.

My blog works for me to give me that outlet for all types of thoughts and emotions.

Today is a special day. I love that I’ve got 1,000 posts, but I cannot imagine a life without my wife. She is my rock, my home base, and best of all, my best friend.

Here’s to another 1,000 posts and another 30 years together! 🙂
