Well, I missed yesterday and I’m not melting down.

Hush. Actually, it was just busy all day long.

The morning was school stuff. I wish I could say I’d get up at 5:00 AM to write, but not a chance. If I cannot get up early to get my chubby butt moving, I’m not going to it to write. My motivation for exercise has not been good, but honestly, my urge to write has been much better. Either way, early morning is not where it’s at right now.

The morning at school wasn’t much better. We had an early out for the end of the quarter, so our special times were all messed up. I spent before school time getting a few things ready for a special reading time we were having for our students in the afternoon.

No writing here.

Early out days we didn’t have our PLC meetings, so we prepped for “Starbooks”, our coffee shop experience for our students as a reward for the 3rd quarter. We had drinks, cups with lids, soft music, and expectations for our students to read. And for the most part, they kind of did. I had high hopes for the reading we’d do, but again, the early out schedule screwed up this project. I hope we keep this idea because I have great memories from my old school of something like this for reading.

But no writing.

After school, we ran home. changed, and took off to a banquet at a fairgrounds about an hour away. It was a Brown Swiss banquet before a big sale, so we got to see some people we’d not seen in a while. We also caught up with the couple who we’ve helped show Swiss. It’s a later starting banquet because farmers need to farm, so we didn’t start eating until 7:30 PM. After the banquet, we went to visit the Brown Swiss because, they are amazing, beautiful animals! The problem with all this, we got home at midnight!

So, no writing.

Normally, I’d be really bummed out by this because I hate missing a Slice Day. My writing approach for this year is just to take it one day at a time because I can only control what I can control. I love writing. I love this Challenge! This year, I’m not going to beat myself up. I do that every day after school thinking, “Am I doing this right,” about my Spanish speakers.

So, we’ll keep plugging away. Tomorrow is the championship game for the Iowa Women’s Basketball team. Iowa plays Nebraska and revenge is in the air! Hopefully, we’ll be able to celebrate a three-peat for the women.

Happy Saturday my friends! 🙂
