I’ve waited too long to write a decent blog today, so this will be my one garbage take for this month.
It was a long freaking day. I’ve had something in my system since the first week of January. I’ve been to urgent care and they said “virus” which is code for “we can’t do anything for you”.
#ugh
I’ve had this nasty cough since then, but was improving. I completed my fitness challenge last month with it, so was feeling pretty good until last Monday. I spent the week popping cold medicine pills because my head felt three feet thick and the stuff I was coughing up, yuck. I’ve “done my own research” (yikes!) and found this cough referred to has The 100 Day Cough. Whatever it is, I want it out of my body!
Over the weekend, I started feeling better again, but today just drained me. The kids were not good. I’ve got a pretty decent class, but they have ZERO boundaries. With the language barrier, that becomes even worse. Today, I set my glasses down, and before long, they were gone.
#wtf
I know. I looked at my table for them, and then one of the kids gave me this look, then looked to his right. One of my students was wearing them. What?? First, my vision is not bad, but certainly not good. My wife takes my glasses and tries them on, only to quickly pass them back to me. Second, what the hell??
It was that way all day long.
So, I’m going to bed with hopes of not waking up 17 times because I cannot breathe and being a bit fresher tomorrow!

In your slice, you capture your day vividly with it’s ups and down. When you are not feeling well everything seems gloomy. There is hope for a” fresher tomorrow!”. I hope you feel much better.

Thankfully, I’m feeling better, yet, this crud seems to keep holding on! Ugh!

Ugh, what a stereotypical Monday! I’m so sorry you’re not feeling well AND that it coincided with students pushing boundaries and buttons. I hope you find relief soon and that tomorrow is a much better day. We have spring break next week; do you have a break soon?
March 7, 2024 at 7:28 am
We do not have a spring break, but also get out before Memorial Day, so there’s some give at take there. Our last “break” is Good Friday and the Monday after Easter. If we can get there, then we can make the last two months!

How awful! I swear that the stuff going around this winter lasts for WEEKS! I taught for three weeks with a fever that just never broke! I sincerely hope you do not actually have to 100 Day Cough, because I think that is pertussis (whooping cough) and it is brutal. I’ve had it and would not wish that on anybody!
Glad you got your glasses back! Why do kids do that weird stuff? Mine have taken one of the two sharpening blades out of my fancy electric pencil sharpener – for the second time.

I got it too but I am hopefully in the last stage. 3 antibiotics later I am still hacking…

Darin, I had what you described for one month. 3 antibiotics later I have no pounding headache, inflammed sinuses and a lingering cough that is weakening. I have heard a lot about this type of illness but not the 100 day cough. I feel like it has been that long already. I know the feeling of getting up in the middle of the night coughing and groping for kleenex. I think my family cornered the market for buying boxes and boxes of kleenex. Best wishes for you to turn the corner. My docter told me last week that the cough could linger for another month. So be it. Your slice made me feel like I’m not the only one suffering. But I am suffering alongside me. Get well soon. I guess we are meeting at the late hour time again. The last two days I was so tired from fighting lack of sleep that I fell asleep while writing my slice so it did not make the finish mark, not even the beginning mark for two days.

While I’m feeling better today, I woke up coughing and stuffed up. I’m glad to see my late night posting buddy is still at it! 🙂

You had a major Monday! So many folks seem to have that 100-day cold, which is lousy. I hope your slog through it will soon be over.

It just won’t go away. I talked with my parents last night and my dad asked if I was feeling better. I ask my wife and she said, “I wish!” LOL!!

Oh no, nothing worse than being sick for that long. Hope you feel much better very soon. Kids can just tip you over the edge!

Thankfully, my personality is pretty chill, but still, no, just no! 🙂

Oh Darin, I am so sorry you had a day like that. Your honest voice brought me back to those feelings when you just want to get home after school as fast as you can to shut the door and hide from the world. Sending healing thoughts your way.

Thanks! I appreciate the thoughts! Somedays, hiding from the world is all you have! 🙂
