My mind has been muddled this summer.

It’s been hard to keep focus, more difficult than normal because honestly, my mind is going 12 different directions at once.

I could write about about this past weekend and the local festival called Nordic Fest. They have a massive parade with candy being thrown, along with cookies, cheese sticks, and an occasionally water bottle too. Then, Norwegian food, crafts, music, and that opportunity to connect the the community. We listened to jazz (not Norwegian music), ate outside, both watching the parade and people too! πŸ™‚ Friends of ours came down to the Fest and we watched some GREAT jazz music (search Avey Grouws Band in Spotify). Then, we wanted a little more quiet, so we moved up the road to a local beer garden with a wide range of selections. It was a very good day!

I could write about fact that we are in August and I’m starting in a new school. I won’t go into detail because I’ve done it before. However, not that we are in August, it’s becoming more and more real.

I could write about how tired I am. I’ve been struggling with sleep. I work HARD here on our acreage, but my sleep patterns have been garbage. I’m not sure what’s going on with my body, but this sucks! I’m hot, then I’m cold, then I’m hot again. As I’m writing this blog, I’m dozing off and my wife caught me. He’s laughing! Grrr!! πŸ™‚

i could write about the fact I’m a blue dot in a wide ranging red political ocean. Watching the news with our former president should bring me a little joy, but it does not. It just makes me sad and angry. How did we allow this to happen, here, in the United States. 🀬

I could write about my first run in almost three months. I just wanted to do a little out and back, two, maybe three miles. I ended up with 2.74 miles. Not a bad distance, but my time was horrible, which I expected. i did get new trail running shoes, which are very comfortable. While it felt good to be out, it did show my how far I’d fallen and how far I’ve got to go to get some fitness back into my life.

Or I could write about my Ancestry DNA test telling me that I’m 32% Swedish and Scottish. I’d thought there’d be this good chunk of Irish in there. Only 5% of me is Irish which was a bit disappointing. It’s a great conversation piece and I will continue building our family tree. Plus, it gives us new places to visit (or dream about visiting)! πŸ™‚ My aunt found that she had 10% of her coming from the island of Sardinia, which is off the coast of Italy. Her theory is that this came from Romans invading England (lots of English in her blood). Again, a great conversation starter! πŸ™‚

While nothing huge has happened in my life, slices are so many places around us. It’s just a matter of making sure that you are paying a little bit of attention and seeing the value of our experiences.

Because sometimes you don’t know what to write, but then, you just write! πŸ™‚
