I feel like this is a yearly post as well.

Apparently, last night, during the State of the Union, our school district called off school today because of the threat of snow and wind. We were forecasted to get 1 – 3 inches of snow, but 45+ mph winds. We live in a valley, so while our view it’s too bad, I’m sure it’s nasty out there in the flat lands.
I did bring a bunch of schoolwork home with me, but, it’s turned into a pretty chill day. We’ve admired our new countertop, installed on Monday. We had laminate and now have quartz, which looks really good! We’ve enjoyed lunch today, a rarity for us during the week. Our spin class has been canceled, which is a bummer. Monday and Wednesday, we walk out of school, drop our laptops into the car, grab our workout stuff, and then walk the 100 yards up to the fitness center. We have no excuses for not working out. None.
Damnit.

Stop. Like I said, I’ve got schoolwork, but I’ve got a book to finish reading about writing that I’ll be writing about at some point today. I’ve also got a couple in the wings to read as well, so I’m well on my way to reading 12 books this year. Hopefully, we’ll get a few more in the summer, but during the school year, my reading entails right before bed, and I get about three pages in before I’m rereading paragraphs and give up!
I’ve got some planning to do as well, get preps for another math unit. We are going through a new math curriculum this year, and it’s tough. It requires our students to communicate with each other and that’s tough. Add in the language barrier/cultural barrier, and I get frustrated on a daily basis! But, we keep going forward which is all we can do. It’s math they are not familiar with, which is another issue. Parents freak out when they see little Jimmy or Sally not doing well, then I get to talk them off the ledge. However, I also get to tell them that little Jimmy or Sally isn’t really applying themselves and if they spent as much time focusing on math as they did talking to Timmy or Jane, they’d be a freaking genius!

I keep those thoughts in my head! đ

And, right now, we are trying to tune a ukulele with limited success. I found the tuner online, I found one where we can get things set up, but it’s not really working that well. Ugh.
Snow days. You can really get stuff today, but today, it just seemed like we kind of spun our wheels. Without a plan, we get this way. The biggest thing we needed to do (paint the ceiling before the countertops were installed) is done so we need something else. Vacation planning will be on the list. We’ll go to Colorado, but we need something else too. My guess, we’ll tour north Wisconsin and Minnesota with our camper, which is fine by me. I’d love to get to South Dakota too because I love the Black Hills, but that might be pushing our luck. We’ll see.
How do you spend your snow days (or weather days)? Do you do major projects or just chill?
